ABC Radio Drive – How to Create Job Satisfaction

Hate your job? 85% of Australians are in the same boat. According to research from LinkedIn, just 15% of Australians feel passionate about their current role, and almost half (45.8%) of Gen Z are currently exploring new career opportunities.

Why is this?

For Gen Z, research has found that 49.7% prioritise pay, 38.9% want flexibility to work from anywhere, and for 38.4% a workplace that’s respectful and has access to mentors would be ideal.

Gen Y, the Millennials, appreciate purpose and meaning, autonomy, flexibility, development, collaboration, a positive work environment and recognition for a job well done.

For Gen X, respect and recognition is important along with financial security and career advancement combined with a decent work-life balance and a structured work environment.

That’s not too much to ask, surely, regardless of how far along you are in your career?

In this interview on ABC Radio DRIVE with Jess McGuire, I discuss how we can create greater job satisfaction without having to jump ship into a different job.

What makes you satisfied at work? What will make things better and what needs to change, in your opinion?
